AI Agents Built to Adapt
Microsoft Foundry expands agent capabilities, with voice and long-running resilience in public preview alongside generally available tools.

Microsoft's September 24 announcement expands the choices and operating tools available to teams building agents with Foundry. The updates cover model selection, spoken interaction, durable work, tool discovery and communication between agents.
Availability differs by feature. Voice agents and resilience for long-running hosted agents are in public preview. Tool search and Agent-to-Agent communication are generally available. Microsoft lists its agent optimizer and related evaluation capabilities as becoming generally available later in the month, rather than already released at the announcement date.
Our perspective: teams should evaluate these capabilities against their own reliability, latency and cost requirements. A broader platform can simplify integration, but preview features still need careful evaluation before becoming dependencies in production systems.
