Listen before you fire
Signals, wrecks and anomalies give exploration a purpose beyond the next fight.
Development preview · This article describes the current design. Proposed story details and features may change before release.
Three layers of observation
The design separates passive contact detection, a targeted scan of a ship or wreck, and focused investigation of an anomaly. The question changes from detecting something to identifying it and understanding its behaviour.
Focused scanning is intended to use orientation and signal alignment, with difficulty coming from the environment. Kaela interprets the return and connects it to the next practical step.
A reason to leave the lane
Optional exploration uses authored signals and compact encounters. Intended rewards include upgrade materials, a useful component, a meaningful story fragment, a visual discovery or knowledge of a better route.
Credits, salvage and rare components support the ship and its journey instead of a full simulated market. The gallery and hangar show development assets; they do not yet demonstrate every scanning or salvage interaction described here.
