A sealed recovery job
Mara Quell hires Daniel Vance to retrieve a sealed object from a dead courier in the Pale Belt. The intended destination is Far Lantern. It sounds like a job an independent pilot can finish and forget.
Kaela’s readings do not agree. The object, called the Seed, refuses to behave like ordinary cargo. What has the Morrow picked up, and why does Axiom Transit want it back?
Contraband at more than one border
The design makes the title literal: stolen corporate property, illegal Fold research material and something whose physical behaviour does not fit ordinary reality. Carrying it connects the story to scans, pursuit and navigation.
This introduction stops at the premise. Later discoveries and the resolution of the campaign remain outside this public overview.
