Image to 3D model: a practical AI workflow with Meshy

Generation is useful when it produces something you can evaluate. Keep the reference, inspect the model and decide what deserves another iteration.

Choose a reference that explains the subject

An isolated subject with a readable outline gives you a clearer starting point than a busy scene. Avoid asking one image to communicate a character, a complex environment and dramatic effects at the same time. Decide which part needs to become geometry.

You can import your own PNG or JPG, or use the connected OpenAI image workflow with your own credentials. Existing reference images do not need to be generated again simply because the next step uses AI.

Keep provider usage separate from the software license

MAS Workshop connects the workflow; external services supply the generation. The one-time Workshop license does not include OpenAI or Meshy credits. Access, available settings, processing time and charges depend on the provider and your account.

Before submitting a task, check the selected options and intended input. Keep the task identifier when available: the Meshy workflow can follow an existing task by ID. Avoid starting another paid generation just because you closed a preview or lost track of an earlier job.

Inspect the result before adding more steps

A generated model may reproduce the visible front while inventing an unconvincing back. Texture detail can also hide a weak silhouette. Rotate the downloaded GLB, inspect thin parts and consider how the model will look at its actual display size.

Do not immediately add animation to a shape you already know needs replacement. Save the first result, compare it with the reference and identify one concrete improvement for the next attempt. This creates a reason for iteration instead of an endless sequence of variations.

  1. Choose or create a reference you can use.
  2. Submit an image-to-3D task with your own provider account.
  3. Inspect the resulting GLB from all sides.
  4. Keep, revise or regenerate based on a specific observation.
  5. Prepare animation or video after the shape is worth presenting.

Preserve context and rights

Record which input and settings produced a useful result. Keep source images, model exports and notes together so you can reproduce an idea or explain how it developed. A visually similar result may still have different geometry and materials.

Review the rights attached to inputs and outputs before commercial use. Buying Workshop does not grant ownership of third-party assets or override provider terms. The practical benefit is a connected place to continue working after generation, with local inspection and presentation tools.
